Hey Creatives,

How I Got Started is back with a bang! It’s exciting to bring you another edition of our IG Live series. Just as you, we are very optimistic about the year and we will be taking you along the entrepreneurial journeys of creatives who are successfully running their businesses and have stayed afloat despite all odds.

This Friday, we’ll be hosting the year’s first edition of our ‘How I got started’ series with amazingly talented ready to wear fashion designers; Alaezi Akpuru and Nancy Udegbulem. Our co-hosts will be in ‘Fashversation’ about their creative journey, major milestones, their pain points, and opportunities.

The Event

The purpose of the event is to inspire and empower African startups in the creative industry with insights into the process of exceptional brand owners in starting up and running successful brands.

Meet the Co-Hosts

ALAEZI AKPURU, CREATIVE DIRECTOR VIRGIOLI FASHION

Alaezi is the Owner & Creative Director of Virgioli Fashion. She’s also a seasoned marketing professional who has worked at companies such as e-commerce giant Jumia, Fashpa & Toju Foyeh. She loves dancing & co-owns an American flag-football team called Titans Athletics.

Founded in 2016, Virgioli Fashion is a Nigerian contemporary womenswear brand aimed at giving the customer a luxury feel without breaking the bank. A fast-growing ready to wear brand with over 15,000 followers across social media. Asides her passion for fashion, Virgioli was created to solve the problem of accessing quality affordable fashion and creating jobs for locals as well as growing the Naira especially after the Naira devaluation due to recession. The Virgioli Fashion is known for its vibrant prints, easy-breezy aesthetic & comfort while maintaining sexiness & style.

NANCY UDEGBULEM, CREATIVE DIRECTOR SPAZIO LABEL

Nancy Udegbulem is the Founder/Creative Director of Spazio Label, a women’s ready-to-wear and bespoke fashion line. Nancy founded Spazio Label in 2017,  out of pure passion & a desire to serve some under-served fashion categories like ‘extra-tall women’! Her love for Fashion and the Creative arts led to her training in dressmaking.

She went to fashion school in 2017 and founded SpazioLabel the same year. As a tall woman, Nancy had difficulty finding pieces that suit her and fit her desires which eventually led to the birth of SpazioLabel. Spazio Label is a Nigerian women’s wear brand that creates structured and edgy pieces- with clean lines, features & simple color palettes that leaves them feeling beautiful in their own skin.
