
Relationship and Account Associate – The Assembly

Founder Yoanna Okwesa, fondly known as “Pepper” launched The Assembly Hub in 2016 out of her desire to level the playing field for women and youth exploring careers and sustainable businesses in Africa’s fashion and creative industry.
In over 5 years we have impacted over 4000 entrepreneurs and creative talent through training, access to job opportunities, mentoring, funding, and consulting. We are building an environment where our community can expand their knowledge, improve skills and discover new ones.
We are seeking an ambitious and proactive Relationship and Account Associate as a new addition to our A-Team. The ideal candidate should have relevant professional qualifications and a proven track record in sales and customer service. International experience would be a valuable bonus.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- You must have a strong interest and knowledge of the creative industry, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work well within a team.
- A proven track record of successful sales lead generation and closing deals, preferably in a B2B environment. Previous achievements in meeting or exceeding sales targets are highly desirable.
- Exceptional prospecting skills to identify potential clients and generate sales leads
- You have strong presentation, persuasion and sales process management skills
- You have a strong customer service mentality and you have the ability to generate respect and trust from all members, team and external stakeholders.
- You are fast thinking, intelligent and proactive.
- A strong understanding of the industry, market trends, and the competitive landscape.
- You are process driven with a detailed focus.
- You are highly organised, methodical and inquisitive and this means you never let an opportunity slip through the cracks. But you are not afraid to walk away from opportunities that do not meet our quality threshold.
- You should be able to work on your own initiative, manage time effectively and work accurately and quickly under pressure.
- Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company’s success
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- A Professional Certification in business, sales, customer relationship management, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a customer service or account management role, preferably in a B2B environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members to achieve shared goals
- Experience with CRM software (e.g Salesforce) and Google suite
Relationship and Account Associate
(1) Sales
- Develop and maintain a sales pipeline to meet and exceed sales targets
- Identify and qualify potential clients through strategic prospecting, research and networking
- Use a consultative sales approach to understand the needs of potential clients and offer suitable service options.
- Prepare and deliver sales presentations and proposals to clients
- Negotiate and close business deals with clients
- Build and maintain client relationships through regular communication, to ensure client satisfaction and retention.
- Collaborate with the recruitment team to ensure a seamless client experience
- Actively seek out and engage with potential clients to sell memberships.
(2) Customer Relationship
- Manage and build relationships with existing strategic partners.
- You’ll be expected to be able to talk about The Assembly’s mission, membership offers, and other activities with confidence and passion
- You’ll be the eyes and ears of The Assembly so you’ll know the community better than anyone; listening and reacting to feedback is the source of our success.
- Address customer concerns and issues in a timely and effective manner
- Develop and implement strategies to improve customer retention and loyalty
- Collaborate with other departments, such as Recruitment & Membership, to ensure a seamless client experience.
- Analyse customer feedback and data to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven recommendations
(3) Business Acumen
- You need to quickly learn everything there is to know about our business, our processes, and our services. This means immersing yourself in the world of impact, business, and the creative sector generally, as well as getting to know our specific services.
(4) Monitoring and Improvement
- Seek out new opportunities to increase business acquisition and drive sales.
- Monitor key performance indicators daily to identify areas of concern and root causes, and propose analyses and/or corrective actions.
- Define, monitor, and build improvements in processes and reporting of critical metrics to improve efficiency.
(5) AD HOC
- Providing weekly progress reports on all stages of sales lead and proposals to the Management and the entire team.
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients, responding to inquiries, and resolving any issues that arise
- Collaborate with the Dept. leads to identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling to existing clients
- Develop and implement strategies for client retention and growth
- Monitor client accounts and provide regular updates to management on account activity and status

JOB DETAILS
- This is a full-time role based in Lagos, but you’ll be working remotely during most intervals
- This role is preferable for an individual that resides in Lagos but is not essential
RECRUITMENT PROCESS
Stage 1: Application & CV Review
Candidates are to apply with their CV, cover letter, and portfolio. Applications are reviewed and candidates that meet the requirement for experience, skills, and qualifications are shortlisted for a pre-screening interview.
Stage 2: Pre-screening Interview
Candidates shortlisted from Stage 1 will be sent a link to book 30 minutes (Virtual) pre-screening session (we would normally give 2-3 different dates to pick from, you can let us know if you are unable to be available on these dates too). This interview is to get to know you beyond your CV, assess your job knowledge, and answer any clarifying questions you may have regarding the role.
Stage 3: Final Interview with the CEO and Team Lead
If you are considered a potential fit for the role, you will be invited to a final interview with the CEO and People & Talents Team Lead to discuss your culture fit and your technical skills and experience. Other clarifying questions will also be answered at this interview.
